The Point

The Point

What is the point? What’s the point? What is your point? For this is not without point. This is not pointless.

Exodus 14:3 For Pharaoh will say of the Israelites, They are entangled in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.

For I have brought you to this point.

Exodus 14:13-14 Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest.

The peak, the edge, the end point, the promontory, the launching place, the place of crossing over. The place to cross, the place of connection. The place of dropping off and picking up. The place to drop the baggage, to get on board, to step on the plank, to walk the broad walk, to pace on the gang plank.

To step on that which floats, to depart the shore for the sure, from the ground, to that which floats. To that which rides the wave, from that which is overwhelmed and covered over.

Genesis 7:16-18 And they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded [Noah]; and the Lord shut him in and closed [the door] round about him. The flood [that is, the downpour of rain] was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it was lifted [high] above the land. And the waters became mighty and increased greatly upon the land, and the ark went [gently floating] upon the surface of the waters.

For the flood is coming, the ground shall be awash, that which is solid will be covered with that which streams. A wash, awash, washed, covered, bathed, by that which is transparent, by that which can be seen, but is transparent. That which nurtures, that which covers, that which is fluid, that which is dynamic.

It’s time to get onboard, it’s time to get on that which is rising, to float above, to rest upon, to be carried away.

Be transported, for I am your transport. Need a lift! Hop in. Enter the vehicle, climb aboard. Come with me. All aboard!

Let me take you away, be carried away. Do not care for your destination. For I know where you are going. I need no map, or compass, or GPS. I am the God Positioning System. I am positioning you. I know where you are, and I know where I am going. Just let me drive. I need no direction, I need no navigator, I am familiar with this road. Just relax and chill, just take a back seat, just get comfortable, for I shall smooth the path, cover the potholes. Sigh, breathe out, chill, calm down, take a load off. Put your feet up!

Trust me, close your eyes, rest, be confident, be exuberant, expansive in the holy, the set apart, the stand out.

Isaiah 41:13-17 That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’ “Do you feel like a lowly worm, Jacob? Don’t be afraid. Feel like a fragile insect, Israel? I’ll help you. I, God, want to reassure you. The God who buys you back, The Holy of Israel. I’m transforming you from worm to harrow, from insect to iron. As a sharp-toothed harrow you’ll smooth out the mountains, turn those tough old hills into loamy soil. You’ll open the rough ground to the weather, to the blasts of sun and wind and rain. But you’ll be confident and exuberant, expansive in The Holy of Israel! “The poor and homeless are desperate for water, their tongues parched and no water to be found. But I’m there to be found, I’m there for them, and I, God of Israel, will not leave them thirsty.

The light is rising, the dawn, the day break is coming, the birth of a new day, a new era!

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
