The Place of Breakthrough

And I had not walked very far until I found myself.
In an instant in moment you revealed yourself to me.

Awash by the flow.

Awash in the flow.

In the midst of the flow.

Against the flow.

Resisting the flow.

And yet what is it you see?

The tide rising, the flood levels rising. My hand resting upon the ground of the flow. The water gently lapping against my hand. The ebb and the flow. Like it was dancing with me, playing hide and seek. Coming and going. Rising and receding. But rising higher and higher. Making a splash. Dancing upon. Dancing above. An unexpected display.

And yet what do you see in the midst of it all?

A raging fire. Blazing like lava, yet textured, full of substance. Raging within and yet without steam. An appearance of a great mystery. Like the burning bush but a burning flow, a glowing flow, a radiant flow, a warmth to the flow. I had to turn aside and see.
I want to walk, but you cause me to stagger and sway.

And now what is it you see?

A burning large leaf, that refuses to be consumed. The fire rages against it, but all I see is the sparks of friction. I want to move on. But you cause me to pause, and my hand to shake.
I want to keep moving, but you disturb my peace. I find myself resting against a pole for I don’t want to sit, but in your presence I struggle to stand. Thanks for showing up Lord.

In the stillness, I am still here.

For here you have found yourself beside the still waters.

In the place where others are running and walking but here you are resting upon a pole.

Bit of a laugh really. You make me laugh Lord. I am so looking forward to spending more time with you.

And as you gaze upon the still waters.

I’ve always questioned that statement, for here I am looking at a lake but the waters are always moving.

In the place of stillness I am always moving.

And you literally show up when I’m just going for a walk, cause you know I just need time with you!

And what is it you see?

A royal coronation. A royal crowning. In the presence of your majesty. I’m struggling to stand.
When I’m with you, nothing is missing.

And the streams of fire flows across the land.

I know you don’t care for the razzle dazzle or the show, all the man made stuff. For you it is just a great distraction from the real “game”.

And yet here you find yourself against the wall.

You perceive the great height of it. You see no way to climb it, yet you know you will make it to the other side.

In a moment, in an instant you find yourself cracking up. Tearing open a way. Making a way through.

For you approach the blocked path as someone who is coming through.

For you know you shall have the breakthrough.

Wed to the breaker, and through with all that stands in the way, you shall have your way.

For you know all that I have said to you. Don’t say “off course”, say “of course”, “staying the course”.

For you have said “that when you walk with the one who calls himself ‘the way’ nothing can stand in your way”.

So here you find yourself against the wall.

Why so surprised that everything shakes in your presence? Why so surprised when all is cracking up around you?

When the walls of Jericho fell, there was no earthquake, only the voice of triumph.

It’s like all you see before you is a pile of ruins, when all I see is an opportunity to plunder.

For he you find yourself in the midst of men.

An unusual position for you, for the place you occupy is at the forefront.

So why so occupied with the middle?

For you shall lead them forward.

For I speak to the end of your story.

For I am so excited about all that is yet to come.

When you look back all you see is loss and mourn all that has gone before.

Yet when you look forward, what is it you see?

The place of majesty, the heavenly realm, the path reserved for the godly, the path that I walk with you!

Is this future in anyway lacking?

No but here I find myself against the wall.

Yet I am disturbing that which disturbs you. Yet you shall greatly disturb the plans of your enemy. For the trembling you see in your hand, is a prophetic indication of all that he feels when he sees you.

For you shall not be contained.

For I have have released you from all that has held you back.

For you shall be a symbol and a source of blessing to so many.

How am I supposed to write when you keep causing my hand to shake?

And yet what is it I have shown you?

My pockets so full of treasure that any time I touch my pocket, jewels just fall out. And yet whatever falls out it simply replaced by you with more.

More and more. Over and over. More and more.

For your enemy tells you “stop being so sensitive!”

Yet I am drawn to your sensitivity.

I love that we can chat even when your body hurts, and amidst all the noise, all you want to do is hear from me.

It is like a soothing breeze upon my soul.

Your enemy convinces you that you have taken a “back row seat”.

Yet this is just a place of rest and reflection.

A place of finding yourself again.

A reflection of the season, but not a reflection of your position.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
