The Gift
I’m in between. I’m present in your between. I stand in your midst, in your between, in the place between where you are and where you are going.
I’m not blocking the path I am making something come and see…..
I’m assembling the pavers, I’m unstacking them. I’m laying them out. Pavers all around. On the path, up the stairs. A huge expanse. A feature. I’m featured in this feature.
This is just the landscaping. This is just the dressing. This is just the covering. This is a masterpiece put forward my the master.
1 Kings 7:9-12 No expense was spared—everything here, inside and out, from foundation to roof was constructed using high-quality stone, accurately cut and shaped and polished. The foundation stones were huge, ranging in size from twelve to fifteen feet, and of the very best quality. The finest stone was used above the foundation, shaped to size and trimmed with cedar. The courtyard was enclosed with a wall made of three layers of stone and topped with cedar timbers, just like the one in the porch of The Temple of God.
The still waters flow in the yard, the stream glistens in the light of the sun. The cool waters refresh, the pure water refreshes the soul. You stand there in the stream with a sponge full of my fullness. You hesitate to squeeze it, to empty it, but look at where you are standing, what is your position?
I’ve collected the slingstones. I’ve gathered the pieces. I’ve sorted them, matched like with like. Broken piece with broken piece. One fits with another, one meant to go with another. Disparate pieces, sourced from all over. Separate but now together. Designed to be together. Disconnected but now assembled. A great assembly.
Come, come quickly. Run up the stairs. Come inside. I’ve opened the door. It stretches high above. A huge door only a giant can open.
Come in, come in, I’ve reserved a spot for you. You are most welcome. You wonder what you are doing here. You look all around in awe and wonder. Magnificent is the word. I describe it so.
You feel like you are the guest of a king, but no, but know, this is yours!
Fit for a King. Is this not your possession? What are you asking for? The prize for the giant slayer? Or do you see, have you not known, is this not the new thing I am doing? Are you not the new thing I am doing?
Perceive it, no recognise it. Are you beginning to see a new reflection in the mirror? For you reflect my glory, you see what you recognise. Embrace the new, see the new, recognise the Unknown. Know yourself afresh. What is it you have learnt about yourself in between.
You reflect my reflection. The vertical pool. The image reflected as it ripples across your vision.
Come and sit at the table. It is time for the party to start!
I hope you don’t mind but I have unwrapped your gift. I couldn’t wait to give it to you. I did not what the covering to get in the way. I wanted you to know what is inside. Do you now know what is inside?
You see only the wrapping, it crackles before you. It reflects the light. You are dazzled by it. You look all around looking for the gift, but you are the gift. You are my treasure. I’ve equipped you with greatness, with power, with purpose with might, with increase, with strength, with authority, with abundance. The domain of the king.
