The Established Movement

Look forward, just look forward, what are you looking forward to?

Be not cast down, do not cast down, no need to look down, or look up, just look forward.

You look down, for fear that you might trip up, and yet you need not, for I have cleared the path.

You walk gingerly, circumspectly, cautiously like you are walking on hot coals, for you know what it is to walk in the fire.

You get all fired up about it, for you expect, you anticipate – fireworks. Rather than celebrate your anticipation begets frustration, gives birth to frustration, rather than joy.

Have you not seen, have you not heard?

What is it you see? What do you think is before you?

I anticipate struggle, I expect roadblocks, I expect a rocky path….

Let me stop you right there!

Am I not the rock upon which you stand?

For this is no rocky path, this is the path of the rock.

For I have given you the solid ground, I have set your feet upon the rock.

You expect your feet to slip for this has been your experience. Yet I have lifted you out of the slippery place, I have set your feet upon the rock.

I have done this, this was not of your doing, you had no part in this intervention. You did not climb out, you did not find a way out of the slippery place for you had no grip.

I, yes I, lifted you out, I pulled you out, I took you out, I transported you from one place to another. I have given you a new position. Let me say that again I have given you a new position, an established position, a position like no other, an established movement!

Let me say that again in case you missed it, an established movement, an unprecedented movement, from the place of the slip, from the place without grip, without traction, to the established movement!

A move that has foundation, a place of traction, a means of moving, from the place without progress, to the place of the established going. This is not just the place of a single step, this is not the rocky ground, this is the path of the rock, this is place without slip, this is the place where you shall have movement, for I have established this.

Established progress, not just the means to progress, but the establishment of that means, a new path that the multitude will walk upon for I have built this road.

You wonder whether your foundation will hold, you are concerned for you consider it to be fragile. You picture yourself holding all things together, and wonder how long you can keep it together.

Yet my path does not rest on your shoulders, your feet stand upon my rock.

You hesitate to move, for you expect that all will fall around your feet.

Am I not the one who holds you up? Am I not the one who lifts you up?

Am I not the one you rely on?

You act like this is shaky ground, you pause, afraid to take a step lest you fall.

Yet I have cleared the path.

You walk by sight not by faith.

Yet I have given you the eyes of Elisha.

You walk as one who is blind, yet I have given you sight!

You give regard to the ground you are upon, you look to step over the next obstacle. You decide where you are going to walk based on what you see.

Yet I picture this, me holding your hand, when all you see is darkness.

If you trust me to pull you out, will you not trust me with this path?

So again I ask what are your looking forward to?

I stand here, plucked from the storm, my face drenched in the flow, struggling to open my eyes. Through the darkness I feel your presence, I can feel your hand holding me up. Through the mist, in the midst I see this bright light shining so brightly in my eyes. I feel like a deer in headlights, without orientation, with no sense of direction, with no power to move as my legs are without strength. I feel powerless to move, and yet you ask me, where would you like to go!

You seek to get your bearings, your point of orientation, your sense of direction, you struggle to speak. Yet you know who holds you up. You wonder how all this happened and yet you feel the one who made it happen.

You pause and remember the last time you went overboard, you see the picture. This was not a picture of one who was defeated, it was a picture of one who tried to stay out of the flow and stand on the shore. As you moved the kayak capsized and you found yourself standing on solid ground in the flow. You were smiling in that picture as all around had a good laugh at what just happened.

Again you fear that you will capsize, so again be joyful and have a good laugh as you know from experience that you stand on solid ground.

I am waiting for your answer…

I am looking forward to peace and prosperity, relaxation and productivity, the clear path, the established path, the solid path, the drive in the country not to escape but to relax, to enjoy.

Come away with me, take my hand, move with me, walk with me for I have cleared the path.

Psalms 40:1-5 I WAITED patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of a horrible pit a pit of tumult and of destruction, out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust, and turns not to the proud or to followers of false gods. Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
