The Curtain of Rain

The curtain of rain.

It sprays off the wall. It is a sign of overflow.

It runs over the wall. Too much to contain.

Darkness all around but I see the light of rain. It sprinkles like a mist. Like the dew. But then stronger and with power. Like a shower. A downpour.

Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live [O Lord]; the bodies of our dead [saints] shall rise. You who dwell in the dust, awake and sing for joy! For Your dew [O Lord] is a dew of [sparkling] light [heavenly, supernatural dew]; and the earth shall cast forth the dead [to life again; for on the land of the shades of the dead You will let Your dew fall].

A rain from the place that contains.

The wall like a dam. Giving supply in the place of drought. An established boundary, designed to preserve and protect. But it flows over the boundary. My flow, overflows and cannot be contained.

The flow I have given you cannot be contained it must overflow. The time has come and is now, where it falls over the edge. It is lifted over the edge. At first a trickle. Then a mist. Then a waterfall.

Song of Songs 5:2 I went to sleep, but my heart stayed awake. [I dreamed that I heard] the voice of my beloved as he knocked [at the door of my mother’s cottage]. Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my spotless one [he said], for I am wet with the [heavy] night dew; my hair is covered with it.

Wherever you walk there will be moisture in the air. It pervades and penetrates all around. Like the dew of Mount Hermon.

Psalms 133:3 It is like the dew of [lofty] Mount Hermon and the dew that comes on the hills of Zion; for there the Lord has commanded the blessing, even life forevermore [upon the high and the lowly].

All is wet, like it has been drenched by heavy rain but there was none. Subtle impact, little apparent impact. But you wake up in the morning as the light dawns and illuminates all around. It dawns on you that all is wet. Many will look in awe and wonder and ask where did that come from?

Hosea 14:5-7 I will be like the dew and the night mist to Israel; he shall grow and blossom like the lily and cast forth his roots like [the sturdy evergreens of] Lebanon. His suckers and shoots shall spread, and his beauty shall be like the olive tree and his fragrance like [the cedars and aromatic shrubs of] Lebanon. They that dwell under his shade shall return; they shall revive like the grain and blossom like the vine; the scent of it shall be like the wine of Lebanon.

For we saw no rain. We felt no rain. We felt the dryness of the drought! But then we awoke to the sound of waves lapping! For the ditches are now full. What you have dug is now full.

2 Kings 3:16-17 And he said, Thus says the Lord: Make this [dry] brook bed full of trenches. For thus says the Lord: You shall not see wind or rain, yet that ravine shall be filled with water, so you, your cattle, and your beasts [of burden] may drink.

The dry ground is now wet.

Job 29:19-25 My root is spread out and open to the waters, and the dew lies all night upon my branch. My glory and honor are fresh in me [being constantly renewed], and my bow gains [ever] new strength in my hand. Men listened to me and waited and kept silence for my counsel. After I spoke, they did not speak again, and my speech dropped upon them [like a refreshing shower]. And they waited for me as for the rain, and they opened their mouths wide as for the spring rain. I smiled on them when they had no confidence, and their depression did not cast down the light of my countenance. I chose their way [for them] and sat as [their] chief, and dwelt like a king among his soldiers, like one who comforts mourners.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
