The After Party

The After Party

The party you have after the party, after the main event the real fun starts.

Special guests are invited, the VIPs. Who will you invite? Who do you want to come?

But I don’t want to come. I’m not one for parties. I’m too tired for partying, I have no time for it. What is the point of it? Too loud, people drunk, judging me for not having their version of fun. No I don’t want to come on to the dance floor! Just leave me alone. Take me to a quiet place. I just want to be alone. Correction I just want to be with my friends, chatting in a quieter place, with some background music playing.

Just send out the invite, ask them to come, for I have personally selected, hand picked the ones I want to come. You choose the mood, the food. You set the table, the scene. You determine the background, I’ll determine the foreground. The blend, the mix. I’ll mix the cocktails, I’ll attend to their desires. I’ll strike up the conversation, I’ll provide the icebreakers. I’ll be the master of ceremonies. I am the Master of ceremonies.

What’s the time? Can I go home yet?

But this is your establishment! This is the house of the party. Where people come to have fun, to take a break, to enjoy themselves, to enjoy what you offer. To taste, to sip, to sup. Different rooms, different tasting plates, differing atmospheres, differing sounds, loud and soft. All about connection, for connection, for connecting.

I invite you to come, just show up, I’ll sort the rest. This is your party, your place to connect. Just chill, relax, enjoy. Be comfortable, make yourself at home.

Make yourself at home. Is this my home? What is my home? What is home to me? Describe it for me?

Home is where the heart is. Home is in the arms of your beloved. Peace and joy. The place of desire. The place where desires are fulfilled. The place of breathing. The soft caress. The place where time stops. No rush. No rushing. No thought to prepare, no response to practice, no plan of attack. Resting in the arms of the one you love, who loves you!

How do I make myself, make myself at home. I’m forcing myself. I’m pretending to enjoy. I’m anticipating discomfort. What am I thinking, I’m agitated at the thought.

But it is different now! This is your home, this is your party, who will come, will you come?

Come away, I want to come away, let us be out, not in. I love the wide open space, arm in arm, hand in hand with the one I love.

I have more for you, more than you can imagine. Comfort in the uncomfortable place, joy in the crowd. You are the life of the party. A picture, a snapshot of you making everyone laugh. They just want to be with you. Shake off judgement, shake off disappointment, shake off rejection. Stretch forth your arms in embrace. Receive the crown, take up your appointment. Accept your anointing. Rise up. Smile. Be joyful, be jubilant, this is the year of jubilee.

I have anointed you to lead. Did you not just have a glimpse of what more is to come? A picture of people together, having fun, laughing. Joy overflowing in your presence. Did you not invite them to come? Were they not there because of you? Tired and worn out, but joy, much joy overflowing in your midst! Even the more serious laughing at your prompt!

It is time to advance, move forward, leave the baggage behind. When surrounded on all sides, move forward. Cross the boundary of your thinking, cross the line, cross the perimeter, step in to the fluid, the wet, and watch me move, part the way, for I have given you rite of passage!

Exodus 14:13-16 Moses told the people, Fear not; stand still (firm, confident, undismayed) and see the salvation of the Lord which He will work for you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today you shall never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest. The Lord said to Moses, Why do you cry to Me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward! Lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, and the Israelites shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
