Strike a Cord

Strike a Cord

I’m tense

Feel the tension.

What is the point of tension?

Take the strain. Like holding a rope in a tug of war. See the cord tighten. See it take the strain. For it is pulled tight. When you see it pulled tight, you see its strength. You see what it is capable of. You see its capacity. Rated to high tensile strength. A cable that is capable of holding much! Now see it held tight for a different purpose. The small cable held tight, stretched over a bridge. Like a rack, tightened until it can bear no more.

What is the point?

To make a beautiful sound. A new harmony. A new cord. A three fold cord. A three stringed cord. A cord intrinsic to a melody, to a new harmony, to a new sound! For I love to play. Without tension there is nothing to play. Without tension the sound is flat. Without tension there is no test of strength. Without tension there is no capacity. At full stretch you shall hit the high notes. The melodies of heaven. I’m tweaking the pitch. I’m tuning the strings. I’m establishing harmony. I’m crafting a new instrument. For it is with this instrument that evil will be overcome. The enemy retreats with this sound. It is the sound of harmony. It is the sound of unity. It is the sound of heaven. I’m playing with the tension. I’m composing a new sound. A unique sound. One that no one has heard before. A mystical sound. A mesmerizing sound. A sound that commands attention. A sound that is subtle at first but weaves its way into the atmosphere. It penetrates the mind, it aligns the wave length, the length of the wave. It adjusts the mood. It defines the outcome. It changes minds. Won’t you come and play with me? Play. Have fun. Create a new sound. Be not tense but play with the tension. Come close. Set a new mood. Light the candle. Set the atmosphere. Dim the lights. Say come closer. Be close. Come together. Wrap the cords. Be folded together. Cuddle up. Express your desire. Feel the touch. Be comfortable! Be intimate! Smile. Say ahhhh! Breathe again! Ecclesiastes 4:7-12 Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun [in one of its peculiar forms]. Here is one alone—no one with him; he neither has child nor brother. Yet there is no end to all his labor, neither is his eye satisfied with riches, neither does he ask, For whom do I labor and deprive myself of good? This is also vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility); yes, it is a painful effort and an unhappy business. Two are better than one, because they have a good [more satisfying] reward for their labor; For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie down together, then they have warmth; but how can one be warm alone? And though a man might prevail against him who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
