Shell Shocked

This is what freedom feels like

What does freedom feel like?

Surreal, beyond my reality, a foreign experience, uncomfortable, not user friendly, absent, divorced from reality, tense, unrecognisable, unfamiliar, beyond comprehension.

For you are shell shocked.

The shell is broken and is no more.

What held you back has been broken. The place of birth, the place of conception has given birth. That which was conceived is now birthed.

What you saw in the dark, you shall now see in the light.

What you dreamed of in the dark, shall now be your reality.

You can now do things you could not do before.

Once restrained, now released.

Immovable, now moving.

Confined, now without confinement.

Here, let me help you out.

For your legs shall be strong, for I have given you strength.

What you dreamt of, what you imagined, what you hoped for shall come to pass.

In your dreams, no…. In your reality.

Living the Dream is the word, it shall be your experience.

Abandon all lack, lay aside that which is broken, put all brokenness aside. Put aside the pain, be detached from pain.

Why hold on to that which is broken, embrace that which is new.

For you were once a shell, a shadow of your real self, the melancholy, mourning the loss, mourning the absence, straining against the boundary line.

Well the line is now broken, the wall crumbles before you.

You wonder if this thing “has legs”, when I have given you wings.

You are my instrument of transformation.

From something hard, small, well defined, to something without boundary, without restriction, with complete freedom.

You sit in the place of brokenness, in a state of shock, you ponder what just happened.

You want to just have a cry, to mourn the loss of what once was, yet here you sit and look up and see the face of a young man holding his child with a big smile on his face.

Have you forgotten how to laugh, have you been holding on so tight, you cannot cope with release?

I too cry out, but with immense joy that bursts forth on the right and the left.

Does the eagle not mount up at my command?

Those who wait upon the Lord, shall not faint, but shall rise up like eagles.

Isaiah 40:27-31 Why, O Jacob, do you say, and declare, O Israel, My way and my lot are hidden from the Lord, and my right is passed over without regard from my God? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength causing it to multiply and making it to abound. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and selected young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; But those who wait for the Lord who expect, look for, and hope in Him shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up close to God as eagles mount up to the sun; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

You wonder how you will cope, you wonder how it will work out, you don’t want to go back to the days of wonder, where everything you touched turned to gold.

Yet these days, the days to come will be beyond brokenness, beyond wonder, for I have redeemed that which was lost, the broken pieces now worth more than gold. The multiplied now ready for harvest.

You and I need to go back over some highlights…

Remember the time years ago with the one called the Bishop.

The theme? Makeover.

The picture? The eagle of fire. The two becoming one, rising higher and higher.

Remember the time when you literally could not sit down.

The theme? Fish in the desert.

The word? Plop.

Abundance in the place of lack.

Your hand moves upon the dry and lifeless and the green pasture grows.

Remember the spectacle.

“For I will make a spectacle of you”

The action: come.

The outcome – the spectacle.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
