Remnant

What is material to you is immaterial to me.

What is immaterial to me, is material to me.

What is it you are made of?

What is it you are made of?

You want me to patch you up, when I value that which remains.

I need not add to that which remains.

You look upon the patch and see the flaw.

I look upon the patch and see the remnant.

For that which remains has value.

For that which remains matters most.

The thing that remains.

That which survived.

That which was torn.

That which was taken.

That which was removed.

That which was torn asunder.

The taking away, the taking of the way.

The off cut.

The discard.

That which was discarded.

That which was considered of no use.

That which had great use, but was put aside, was rejected, ejected, ripped off, pulled back, left, just left, put down, put down and left.

Not returned to.

Not considered important.

Not considered valuable.

Considered a waste.

Devalued.

Of no value.

Too small to be considered for the task.

Not fit for purpose.

Evaluated and deemed unworthy.

Worthless but not without worth.

I am taking the less.

I am erasing the “less”.

For that which remains has great “worth”.

It matters to me that you “remain”.

Wipe.

Swipe.

Wipe.

Swipe.

Erased.

The intention of your enemy was to erase your imprint, to remove your marker, to wipe you out, to leave no trace, yet your imprint remains.

For this was a permanent marker.

Your mark was permanent.

Try as they might, your imprint remains.

For I have engraved my promise on their board, their parchment, their purpose, their goal, their intent.

For how can they move forward without you?

Try as they might, how can they unlock the door, when you are the key?

“You said I was meant for more”

“For I will never settle down for anything less than holy ground”

“In the clearing I am finally seeing”

“In the clearing I am finally breathing”

Can you feel the friction?

Can you feel the abrasion?

Can you feel the course ness?

Can you feel that which remains?

“To the ones left behind, you are not behind, you will see”

For your fingers rest upon that which remains.

You feel the course ness, the friction, the bumps, the remnant of the cutting, the work, the handiwork, the work of my hands.

You say to yourself “It is not very smooth”. You will would like it to be smooth, to be polished, yet the ridges remain, the remnant remains.

What is it you feel?

Blind, without sight, with the remains, with the bumps, with the imperfections

You know my desire, you know my intent, you know my course, you know the words forming upon your lips

Of course

Of course.

Does not the blind read my words by that which they rest their fingers upon?

Are not the bumps, the ridges, the remnants of value to them?

For that which is smooth has no meaning to them, no value to them.

For the smooth provides no contrast, no means by which they can define one thing from another.

Isaiah 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do for them; and I will not leave them forsaken. Isaiah 42:16 MSG But I’ll take the hand of those who don’t know the way, who can’t see where they’re going. I’ll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I’ll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don’t fall into the ditch. These are the things I’ll be doing for them—sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute.” Isaiah 42:18-21 Hear, you deaf! And look, you blind, that you may see! Who is blind but My servant Israel? Or deaf like My messenger whom I send? Who is blind like the one who is at peace with Me who has been admitted to covenant relationship with Me? Yes, who is blind like the Lord’s servant? You have seen many things, but you do not observe or apprehend their true meaning. His ears are open, but he hears not! It was the Lord’s pleasure for His righteousness’ sake in accordance with a steadfast and consistent purpose to magnify instruction and revelation and glorify them.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
