On the Run
Run after….
Run away…
Run towards…
Run from…
Who is running from whom?
Have I not given you authority?
Did I not put you in charge?
What is your fallback? Who cries out fallback?
Is it not my nature to pursue, to overtake to recover all?
What belongs to you? Do you know what belongs to you? Do you know what there is to recover?
Have I not given you the power to accelerate, to overtake, to take over?
What are you in pursuit of?
What are you running after?
What causes you to move?
What gets your attention?
What causes you to run?
For you have regard for the enemy, but are afraid to look upon his face.
Have no regard for him, but look upon his face.
What is it you see? The face of the defeated one, the face of pain, the face of the one who has lost!
For you look upon the one that was defeated by your hand.
You see the death of the giant who stood against you.
In an instant you hear the gasp, the sound of shock and awe. The sound of anguish, the sound of defeat.
You pause in the wonder of it all.
You look up and find yourself surrounded on all sides. On one side those whom the giant represented, on the other those who did not recognise you, who expected you to fall.
There was no fallback. You put everything on the line, all that you had, all that you were in that moment. The shepherd boy at his best.
So what will you do now? Those that opposed you, failed to recognise you, rejected you – now look to you for direction. For they now follow your lead.
For five shall chase a hundred, and a hundred ten thousand.
Yet I have anointed you to chase down, to run after, to pursue, to overtake, to recover all.
For the anointed one shall chase the multitude, shall cause the multitude to retreat, to surrender.
1 Samuel 17:50-54 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck down the Philistine and slew him. But no sword was in David’s hand. So he ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath, and killed him, and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their mighty champion was dead, they fled. And the men of Israel and Judah rose with a shout and pursued the Philistines as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron. So the wounded Philistines fell along the way from Shaaraim as far as Gath and Ekron. The Israelites returned from their pursuit of the Philistines and plundered their tents. David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem, but he put his armor in his tent.
For they shall be as one without power, shall be paralysed in fear, shall be unable to move in response to your advance.
They speak to each other the words of defeat. They encourage each other with words of discouragement. They shall abandon their plans. They shall give up, they shall give you whatever you want. They shall beg for you not to destroy them.
There shall be a reversal, the one who once had to take whatever was given, I shall give dominance to, I shall cause to dominate.
Nehemiah 6:15-16 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us feared and fell far in their own esteem, for they saw that this work was done by our God.
For the enemy shall give alms to you, shall pay tribute to you. For I have established this temple, this place. It shall be the place of abundance, the place of overflow. The fountain that bursts forth in the desert for all to see.
For I, yes I, shall lift you up. You shall sit upon the shoulders of those who were against you, who did not recognise you they shall now lift you up, they shall exult you, they shall celebrate you.
Zephaniah 3:19-20 Behold, at that time I will deal with all those who afflict you; I will save the limping ones and gather the outcasts and will make them a praise and a name in every land of their shame. At that time I will bring you in; yes, at that time I will gather you, for I will make you a name and a praise among all the nations of the earth when I reverse your captivity before your eyes, says the Lord.
