My Goodness

What’s the point!

What is the point? What is the purpose? What is the plan? What is the objective? Are we having fun yet? Is this some sort of joke? Am I meant to be laughing? I question my senses? Without sense, there is no humour!

Really?

Is this not absurd? Is this not without sense? Where is the sense in all of this?

What is it that you sense? How is it that you feel?

Tense, frustrated, wanting to move, but bound, restrained, tied up! I’m tied up right now! Hemmed in, hedged in, in the thick of it, in the thicket.

There is provision in the thicket, in the thick of it!

Where is the binding? Where is the boundary? Where is the restraint? Show me the limitation? In what way are you limited?

Why are you fainting? My goodness – why are you fainting? Why are you weary?

What is the point? What is it you believe?

Do you believe to see my goodness?!

You are good, all the time, all the time you are good!

You sing it but do you believe it?

If I have purposed it, surely it will stand! Can anything get in my way, when I am the way!

How can you be limited, when that which is unlimited powers you!

Have a look at what you perceive? Regard what you look at? What do you see? Check your view?

What is it that you anticipate? My goodness? My GOODNESS!

Your failure to anticipate…. Your failure to forecast… Brought about your….

Do you really think this is about your performance? Did I not tell you, I am the main attraction, I AM the main event!

Do you think I will let you fall?

Have I not promised to uphold you with my righteous right hand?

When you are lame, have I not promised you that I would carry you?

Have I not brought you out that I might hear your voice?

You withdraw into your room, into the place of no communication…

If I have nothing good to say, then I will say nothing!

Can you not speak of my goodness?

You look for my goodness, you wait expectantly for my goodness, you hope for my goodness. Why?

If I am present, so too is my goodness! My goodness child!

Have you not known, have you not heard, it is my goodness?

What is it that you see?

A trap, a binding, a prison, a pit, a dungeon! A dark place without light!

It is dark, because your eyes are closed! Just open your eyes!

I’m afraid, I’m upset, I’m tired, I’m weary, I’m over it. In the place of the forsaken, the place of abandonment!

What is it that you see!

2 Kings 6:15-18 When the servant of the man of God rose early and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. Elisha’s servant said to him, Alas, my master! What shall we do? [Elisha] answered, Fear not; for those with us are more than those with them. Then Elisha prayed, Lord, I pray You, open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. And when the Syrians came down to him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, Smite this people with blindness, I pray You. And God smote them with blindness, as Elisha asked.

Again I ask you to open your eyes!

Fear not, for I am with you!

Lift up your eyes

Isaiah 60:4-5 Lift up your eyes round about you and see! They all gather themselves together, they come to you. Your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried and nursed in the arms. Then you shall see and be radiant, and your heart shall thrill and tremble with joy [at the glorious deliverance] and be enlarged; because the abundant wealth of the [Dead]Sea shall be turned to you, unto you shall the nations come with their treasures. Jeremiah 31:10-14 Hear the word of the Lord, O you nations, and declare it in the isles and coastlands far away, and say, He Who scattered Israel will gather him and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock. For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from the hand of him who was too strong for him. They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion and shall flow together and be radiant with joy over the goodness of the Lord —for the corn, for the juice [of the grape], for the oil, and for the young of the flock and the herd. And their life shall be like a watered garden, and they shall not sorrow or languish any more at all. Then will the maidens rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together. For I will turn their mourning into joy and will comfort them and make them rejoice after their sorrow. I will satisfy fully the life of the priests with abundance [of offerings shared with them], and My people will be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
