Let the Good Times Roll
Roll your way on to Yahweh, He works.
Rolling forward, propelled forward, yearning forward, leaning forward.
To attain, attainment.
What is it you seek? What is your desire?
Good times, let the good times roll…
Is this not a good time? Peace, atmosphere, good company, goodness, my goodness, is that not what you have?
Adjust your focus. Regarding, I write to you regarding… What is it you regard?
For you focus on what you do not have, on what is missing, not on what you have, but on what you haven’t, on what is lost, not what is found.
What is it you have found?
I have found you Lord. Yet I have travelled so far, but behold this great vista before me. It looks beautiful, but just for a moment, a fleating moment. I feel that I have just entered the land of the promise, after much drama and trauma. Right now, I can relate to those who would rather stop in one place, then press forward again. To be away from it all, from the past and the future, that is the spot I seek.
Is that not where you have found yourself?
Open your eyes and behold, just be and hold!
You value movement, to move forward, to push forward. You feel the pressure to move, struggling to sit still. For weeks now you have been so agitated, shaking things up. Pressing against the goads! Striving forwards, straining forwards, stretching forwards.
Yet, here I have placed you, reserved a spot for you, set you apart from everyone and everything!
You feel the absence of the one you love. It pounds against your soul, it bruises your inner parts, the essence of your being.
No one understands my pain, no one appreciates my pain. I don’t even get myself! I’m happy to be alone, but don’t like to be lonely.
Despondent, why so despondent?
For you hand yourself over to a despot. One who is mean spirited, one who takes and does not give. Why return to captivity, when I have set you free?
You feel the chains all around, the rattling, the dragging of the chain. The clanging in your ear – amplified.
Yet look closer…
For I have broken the chains. The broken chains rest in your hand. For I have taken captive captivity.
For I see you, I have regard for you. You head stooped, your eyes closed, your posture, one of defeat.
Arise and shine, open your eyes, lookout, no need to lookout, no need for fear, for I banished fear. Fear in exile, banished, set aside.
Look again.
Feel again.
Look closer, come to the end of the chain. See the break, feel the breakthrough.
For you are through. Hear me – you are through.
For I have broken through.
See the pieces, feel the peaces, be at peace.
You walk in a daze, weary but walking, stooped but walking forward, ready to endure, ready to take the strain, holding fast to the chain, pulling with all your might.
Look again, look again, just look again.
What is it you carry?
For now there is no weight!!!
Let that sink in…..
There is no weight.
You expect the pull, you anticipate the strain, you forecast heaviness, you brace for impact.
Yet there is no weight, there is no strain, except that which is upon your face!
You say “take the strain” in anticipation of the tug of war.
But I have taken the strain!!!!!
The chain is broken. You are free of it!
For I have taken captivity captive.
You now possess the weight, the iron that was without is now within!
The chains without are now but a feather. But you hold them so tightly!
Release your grip, to get a grip, get a grip on what I have done!!!!
You got that right, not “what I am going to do”, but “what I have done!”
You wait in expectation of what I am going to do, but now realise that I have already done it!
You anticipate the struggle, you expect the loss, you carry the loss, burdened by the loss, you struggle to walk, to keep pace, to keep – up!
Be not down, be up!
You feel the loss, you carry the loss, you walk as though you have been robbed.
Yet look again.
You have spent so much time feeling the loss, carrying the loss.
Be taken back….
For I have taken you back.
“Go back to Galilee, for I will meet you there”
For the devil says you have lost it, lost it all.
I say you have gained it all.
For from ashes, I have established beauty.
For from mourning, I have brought the morning, a new dawn, a new age, a new era.
You were drawn back to the early days, feeling the loss, expecting the loss, expecting to see gloom and doom. Yet what did you find?
You’re messing me up Lord. One again here I am wiping tears from my eyes! Yet it is not pain that I feel. I feel love, wave, upon wave! I went back expecting the gloom and doom. But I found glory! Glory upon glory, blessing upon blessing. The wonder of it all, full of wonder, married to wonder! It messes me up.
For the highlights of the past, shall be your experience.
You feel the gaps, the loss, yet now you shall experience overwhelming joy.
Embrace again.
Let’s go back to the start. What is it you see?
Kissing my bride for the first time. Oh the wonder, a moment full of wonder. Wonder bursting forth all around. A spectacle of wonder. The crowd expectant, the experience beyond all expectation. Overflow all around. Awe and wonder. Then celebration and delight.
I asked you what is your experience?
Well now you have the answer!
Experience delight, carry wonder, possess wonder, attract attention, change the atmosphere, impact all around. For it shall be delightful.
For you are my delight. My love for you exceeds that of your love for her!
Post the picture, you know the one, do it now, don’t be shy, for I have not designed you to be ordinary, I’ve added something extra!
I’m getting out of the way Lord. Let the good times roll.
Psalms 23:6 Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord and His presence shall be my dwelling place.
