High Stakes

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’ll see you and raise you.

I see what you are looking at and I’ll raise you!

What are you looking at?

Say to the devil “what are you looking at”?

Better still say to him “who are you looking at?”

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’m seeing you and raising you.

I’m putting it all on the line.

How about you?

I’m all in.

How about you?

You can’t out bid me.

Go ahead give me your best shot!

Put on your best poker face.

I’m not bluffing.

I have the winning hand.

I have a full house.

When you look at your hand what is it you see?

A pair of twos.

When you have put it all on the table what is left to do?

What is left to do?

What is left to do?

What is left to do?

You have a choice, to fold or to accept my raise.

Will you accept my raise?

1 Samuel 10:21-24 He brought the tribe of Benjamin near by its clans, and the clan of the Matrites was taken by lot; and Saul the son of Kish was taken by lot. But when they sought him, he could not be found. So they inquired again of the Lord, “Is there a man still to come?” and the Lord said, “Behold, he has hidden himself among the baggage.” Then they ran and took him from there. And when he stood among the people, he was taller than any of the people from his shoulders upward. And Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see him whom the Lord has chosen? There is none like him among all the people.” And all the people shouted, “Long live the king!”

I know you just want to pack up your stuff and walk out.

Can I suggest an alternative?

Leave your bags, just leave your baggage with me. Leave behind the baggage. Come from behind the baggage.

Just leave your stuff with me.

No need to unpack it. No need to unravel it. No need to explain the purpose of it.

Just leave it with me to sort it out.

Just leave your baggage with the baggage keeper.

I’ll accept your stuff.

1 Samuel 17:20-22 And David rose early in the morning and left the sheep with a keeper and took the provisions and went, as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the encampment as the host was going out to the battle line, shouting the war cry. And Israel and the Philistines drew up for battle, army against army. And David left the things in charge of the keeper of the baggage and ran to the ranks and went and greeted his brothers.

You’ll need both hands for this.

Two hands.

One hand in another.

Remember two to the power of 10!

Will you see me and raise me?

Will you lift your eyes and look into my eyes once again?

If you lift up your eyes will you not see my glory?

Genesis 4:5-7 but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”

That is it, I know you can do it, I know what you are capable of, I know your true potential.

That’s it….

What is it you see?

A big smile on your face…

What is it you perceive?

You have the winning hand, that is why you are so happy! Where does that leave me?

It what way is your situation the work of your hands?

In what way do you own anything?

In what way can you “give” me anything?

When you have me, what else do you need?

Am I not your provider?

Did I not say, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes.

Have I not staked my claim?

I’ll see you and raise you.

I’ll see you and raise you.

I have seen you and am raising you.

Get up on your feet soldier!

Arise!

Get up!

Be up!

Stay up!

Be raised!

Raised!

Raised!

Yes raised!

Be not down, be up!

That’s it. End of story!

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
