Here We Are

Well, here we are.

The mist blows across the land, permeating the atmosphere all around. Softly, gently invading the land. Like a fog, but a mist in the midst, bringing the dew, the due.

At first you see clearly, but then the mist in the midst, clouds your view.

What is it you see?

For it is I. I’m coming in a form you do not recognise. I am here standing on that which is fluid, in a place you did not expect, on that which should not hold me up.

But here we are…

I am here with you.

In the storm. In the midst. In the place of the struggle. In the place of exhaustion. In the place where the waves and billows roll. Tossed and turned. Pushing forward. Propelled, compelled, but up against it. For it rises against you. It opposes you.

Yet I stand in the mist, in the midst.

What is it you see? Am I a ghost, that has no form or substance. Am I to be feared? For it is fear that holds you back. It is fear that stops you in your tracks. It is the fear of the crash, the crashing waves, that gives the sinking feeling.

Mark 6:49-51 But when they saw Him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, andraised a deep, throaty shriek of terror. For they all saw Him and were agitated (troubled and filled with fear and dread). But immediately He talked with them and said, Take heart! I AM! Stop being alarmed and afraid. And He went up into the boat with them, and the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its own beating). And they were astonished exceedingly beyond measure,

Fear not! I say do not be afraid. For it is I. I am the anchor for your soul. I am the rock in the place of instability. I am that which is secure, in the place of turbulence.

Jeremiah 5:22 Do you not fear and reverence Me? says the Lord. Do you not tremble before Me? I placed the sand for the boundary of the sea, a perpetual barrier beyond which it cannot pass and by an everlasting ordinance beyond which it cannot go? And though the waves of the sea toss and shake themselves, yet they cannot prevail against the feeble grains of sand which God has ordained by nature to be sufficient for His purpose; though the billows roar, yet they cannot pass over that barrier. Is not such a God to be reverently feared and worshiped?

What is your question? What will you ask of me? For it is fear that holds you back, but it is the question that propels you forward.

John 16:21-25 “When a woman gives birth, she has a hard time, there’s no getting around it. But when the baby is born, there is joy in the birth. This new life in the world wipes out memory of the pain. The sadness you have right now is similar to that pain, but the coming joy is also similar. When I see you again, you’ll be full of joy, and it will be a joy no one can rob from you. You’ll no longer be so full of questions. “This is what I want you to do: Ask the Father for whatever is in keeping with the things I’ve revealed to you. Ask in my name, according to my will, and he’ll most certainly give it to you. Your joy will be a river overflowing its banks! “I’ve used figures of speech in telling you these things. Soon I’ll drop the figures and tell you about the Father in plain language.

You already know the answer. For I have commanded you to come. What are you waiting for?

Step out, step off. Embrace the thing you cannot grasp. You advance not towards the ghost, you walk towards the one who loves you. You take the step I have ordered. Each step like a ticking off my order form. Step by step, precept upon precept, line by line.

Hold the line, step on my line, be not on the sideline.

I am the overflow in the presence of your lack. I am the source or your resource. Will you take this cup? Will you accept this measure?

You stand with your thimble, and I stand in possession of the stream.

What manner of manna is this? What is the matter with manna? Why accept the daily bread, when I stand ready to pour out the stream?

Be not overwhelmed, be not overcome. For I stand with you in the storm, I stand with you in the fire.

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.

Here WE are!

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
