Friction

It burns….

The touch, the caress the proximity, the feeling, the closeness.

The distance, the longing, the separation, the pain of isolation.

The intensity, the tension, the anxiety, the unity, the bringing together of opposites.

The sparks fly.

The taking of the strain, the accumulation of the pain, the rising tension.

It hurts to move, it hurts to sit, it hurts to stand, it hurts to turn, to toss and turn.

The music plays for a brief moment, like the tango, it brings momentary relief but then is gone.

The stepping in, the refusal to step back.

The moving toward, the refusal to step back in fear.

The rising up vs the uprising.

I am longer content with my discontent.

It is time for more.

It is time for fullness.

It is time for romance.

It is time for joy.

It is time for laughter.

It is time for intimacy.

For I have broken the chains! I have released the captives! Be captivated, not captive. For my oil of joy flows. Look and see. Open your eyes and see. For the light shines in the darkness and is not overcome by it. You rise before the dawn. You sit and wait for the tension to diminish. Look up not down. What is it you see?

The Light shining in the darkness. The promise of the rising.

Is this not a new day? New mercies, new wonder, new opportunities. For you have taken courage. You have slain the dragon! You see it now flaying before you, writhing at your feet, unable to gain traction. That which had power over you has been defeated! It cries out in vain. Now release the strain, lay off the strain, loosen and relax your grip. Let go of the sword. For I declare victory. This war is over. No more fighting, no more infighting. Be at peace, receive my peace. Take hold of peace, embrace peace. For the one who knows victory, the one who possesses much power, need not wrestle for victory, posture for victory, for he has confidence in any circumstance. No need to jockey for position, no need to win every race, for you know your potential. The V8 vs the mini is no contest. You act like you have no power, no position, nothing to offer. Am I not your security? You expected to battle, you expected to be hurt, you anticipated defeat. But it was far from awful. For when you take my power into your battle was it not easy? The raging storm, became a teacup. The anticipated conflict, became a welcome party. Why so shocked? You operate from history, you anticipate a repetition of the past pattern, yet this is a new thing! Have you not seen, have you not heard? Pay attention, give heed to my word, for now it comes to pass. This is the end of the beginning. Declare an end to all this friction. Get a grip man! Seriously! Replace friction, with traction. Irritation with intimacy. Opposition with alliance. The coming against, with the coming towards. The doom and gloom, with the soothing bloom. The adversity with celebration. If I am for… Be not against. Be for. What are you for?

I want to be for…

Love. Restoration. Reaping. Romance. Warmth. Care. Encourage. Others focussed – the ability to operate without a feeling of chaos, without the need to hold it all together, to operate from a place of power, to be a resource not a drain. To be confident, exuberant and expansive. To have traction not friction. To have wholeness not fractions. To bring a joyful smile to my beloved.

Don’t hold back, you will not be embarrassed. For the tide has turned, the harvest has come. Beat your swords into instruments of the harvest. Isaiah 2:2-5 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be firmly established as the highest of the mountains and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow to it. And many people shall come and say, Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law and instruction, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He shall judge between the nations and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
