Focus

When I look around I find my vision is blurred. When I look up close I struggle to focus, and then when I look into the distance it is like a veil is over my eyes. And then I see you Lord, so crystal clear, waving at me, gesturing to me, beckoning me to come.

In this moment I want you to focus.

For what is behind you is no more, and what is ahead of you has not yet arrived.

Won’t you follow me? Watch my every move, walk in the steps I have taken.

For you need not know where I am taking you, for I am with you.

Won’t you remember, don’t you remember?

”He is with me, standing at the entrance to the party?

Yes that is the one.

For I see you looking for the keys to get in, yet you are the walking with the one who makes a way where there is none.

Yes Lord but I feel so stuck between what was and what is yet to come.

But I am with you in the middle.

I hear you saying to yourself “I’d be more motivated if I knew where we were going, and how to get there!”

But I have also heard from the depths of your heart how you don’t care where are going if you are with the one you love.

I feel so lost without her Lord!

Yet it was foretold, it was untold, it was unheard of, it was told for this time.

You would give me the sight of Elisha, and we would know where to go, and each of us would flap the wings of the fiery eagle and devour the territory you have set before us.

Did I not say I would give you clarity?

In the frosty place, in the cold place, in the isolated place, in the place where nothing lives, where time is frozen?

Yes Lord you asked me to place my hands of fire upon the frosty place and it would defrost and I would see everything so clearly.

Well now is the time.

I am setting you on fire.

Your eyes reflect my fire.

Your breath brings warmth and life to all those who feel it.

You hand unlocks that which is frozen and brings forth movement.

What is it you feel?

Stuck in a moment I can’t get out of.

What is it you see?

Holding on to the plan, as my hands burn like fire. Even though the fire rages it is not consumed.

You act like it is not safe to proceed, when you see the smoke all around. Yet this is a sign to advance. For where the fire rages most intensely there is no smoke.

You feel it so intensely.

You see the fire I have place in your hand and try to put it out!

What a laugh!

I see you putting under your jacket, trying to smother it, but in a moment your clothes are on fire!

For there is nothing you can do to put my fire out.

Just like when you take a step back from your beloved, all it does is give you another perspective on my love. For I love the way you look at her.

I could feel you when you had to just stop the conversation and just stare at her, just absorb her goodness, her kindness, her love, her joy.

That is what I mean by focus.

Look upon my love.

Look into my eyes, feel my joy, feel the power of my love, receive an outpouring of my affection.

For to gaze upon my beauty is restorative, is all knowing, is a moment of reset, a moment to rest, a moment to bathe in the reflection of my goodness and kindness.

For you know I don’t just make the ordinary, the functional, the mechanical, the logical thing, or even the best thing, I make that which is beautiful.

Selah, pause and reflect on that truth!

”Every good thing comes from You! You have always made good on your promise”

Take my hand, I will show you the way.

Isaiah 42:16
And I will bring the blind by a way that they know not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known. I will make darkness into light before them and make uneven places into a plain. These things I have determined to do [for them]; and I will not leave them forsaken.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
