The place of expectation.
What were you expecting?
You ask yourself “what were you expecting?”
In the barren place the natural expectation is lack, to find that which is arid, to find that which was alive and is now dead.
In the barren place you expect death.
In the barren place you expect to find that which was alive.
In the barren place you expect to find all that is limited, to find disappointment, to find only that which is absent.
Yet what is it that you seek?
In the place of the burning, in the place of the fire, in the place of heat, in the place of the barren wilderness whose voice do you hear?
Exodus 3:2-4 The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, yet was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush is not burned. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here am I.
Am I not the one you seek?
Why so surprised that you find me in the barren place?
Why would the God of all abundance be found in the place of abject lack?
So that my fullness would be revealed.
For it is hard to see more in the place of abundance.
Adjust your focus.
What is it you see?
A huge fountain bursting forth in the driest place, in the desert place, in the desolate place.
The birth of refreshment, the uprising of overflow, the restoration of fullness, the reversal of that which once was and now is.
For I know you want to push yourself back, I know that you want to hold yourself back, to block your own path, to lock yourself away and throw away the key.
Yet it is I that calls unto you.
Yet it is I that calls unto you.
It is I.
It is my voice that calls unto you.
Come out.
Come forth.
For I am resurrecting that which was dead.
Loose that man, and let him go.
Be unbound.
Be out of bounds.

Be without bounds.
For I have released you.

For I did not call you to be ordinary.

For I am establishing a new boundary.
Beyond all that you expect.
First the elevation, then the expansion, now the establishment of community, the place of community.
For it shall not be behind hand on the day I have appointed for it.
You are right on schedule.
No longer behind, but in front, in the forefront, to the fore.
Leave the whole thing to me.
For you shall be whole.
For I am making you whole.
The fulfilment of the promise.
First the building blocks, then the building, now the establishment.
For you shall build that which I have established.
Like nothing before or since, one of a kind, a monument for my glory.
For it rises before you in 53 days.
For I have purposed it and it shall stand.
