Embraced by Joy
Just come away with me.
Breathe in, breathe out, feel my breath, I’m right here.
Close by, nearby, right beside, I am right here.
I hope I am not invading your personal space.
I just want to be near you.
I want to be in the same room as you.
My hand is upon you.
I am not distant. I am right here.
I am not shocked by your desire for distance, yet I know you like to be touched.
You say “keep your distance”, but really you just want a hug.
You miss so many hugs, you long to be touched.
You hate the tyranny of distance, all those you love so far away, I feel your pain, I know your pain, I experience your pain.
For I love to go for a walk in the garden.
I love to go for a walk. Won’t you come for a walk with me?
For I want to be up close, I love to hold your hand. I am happy to pace it out with you. When you are struggling to stand, I’ll wrap my arms around you. Happy to have a piggy back if you want.
You still remember the only time you experienced this, when you ripped your knee off, and had it stitched back together, your beloved mum took your weight upon her shoulders. It was the best moment, being carried by the one you love.
Will you permit me to carry you?
Don’t worry I can take your weight. I have broad shoulders. Go on, it will be fun.
Come up higher, sit upon my shoulders, take a load off, it is going to be ok.
For your breakthrough is coming, first the broken, then the through, then the breakthrough.
I love the broken pieces, the shattered ruins of your dream, are the precious jewels that I will build with. Better than you expect.
The pain is so intense, the loss, the brokenness, the gift lying shattered upon the ground.
The material breaking the immaterial, the tangible impacting the intangible, the best injuring the one you love the most.
It is more than you can bear.
Will you know allow me to bear it for you. Will you trust me to restore, to heal, to do more than you expect, to pour out the oil of joy for mourning?
For I have placed this joy in your hand.
Joy holds your hand.
