Desire

Desire

What is it that you seek? What is it that you desire?

Comfort? Intimacy? Pleasure? Closeness?

A smile? The look of joy? The smile on the dial?

I have come so that you might have life, and life to the full.

I’m so tired of just life. I long for fullness. And yet I see a pouring out all around. I see the oil poured around in a circle. A marking of the territory. But then in an instant aflame.

Stuck, be awestruck. In an instant, set aflame. It rages all around. It lights up all around. As the sparks fly upward. In a moment sitting in the darkness, then surrounded by light.

Psalms 104:1-4

Psalm 104 BLESS (AFFECTIONATELY, gratefully praise) the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great! You are clothed with honor and majesty— [You are the One] Who covers Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain or a tent, Who lays the beams of the upper room of His abode in the waters [above the firmament], Who makes the clouds His chariot, Who walks on the wings of the wind, Who makes winds His messengers, flames of fire His ministers.

A fresh anointing, a fresh outpouring. I’m marking my territory. You shall not strike out. You shall be awestruck. I’m lighting things up. My territory shall be clear and set and marked for all to see. Like a bush fire it rages, higher and higher. But it stay, it sits on the mark, it defines my possession, my land.

None shall cross it.

You love the intimacy of the fire, you love to make out by the fire. Feel it’s warmth, feel the heat. Relax in the glow. What I have for you is much more than you desire. You feel it now don’t you. Your body shakes in my presence.

For I am the author of intimacy. Before you were born I knew you. I fashioned you with desire. I wired you with desire. You feel it in your bones, in the core of your being. Your beloved is but a taste of my goodness. It stirs you in your soul. It propels you forward. Driven by desire. Let your passion flow. Pour it out. Reach for it, stretch for it, embrace it, hold on to it. For I must have you!

You move me Lord, I’m struggling to keep it together, how can it be that you love me so?

I have chosen you, I have set you apart. You are my hearts desire. I long for you. Be full with my fullness, possess my fullness, inhabit my fullness. Feel my caress, feel my desire. Be exuberant, be joyful. Walk around with the smile on your dial, as one who has received the prize, who possess that which was desired.

Feel it, embrace it, possess it, for you shall have what you desire!

Psalms 57:4-8 My life is among lions; I must lie among those who are aflame—the sons of men whose teeth are spears and arrows, their tongues sharp swords. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let Your glory be over all the earth! They set a net for my steps; my very life was bowed down. They dug a pit in my way; into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is steadfast and confident! I will sing and make melody. Awake, my glory (my inner self); awake, harp and lyre! I will awake right early [I will awaken the dawn]! My life is among lions, I will lie down with those who are aflame….

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
