Bottomless
For the harvest lies before you.
For it shall occur to you that this is no ordinary occurrence.
For that which blossoms rests upon that which is elevated.
From the single point comes the many petals.
For my glory is sprinkled before you. Before your arrival.
For the season of containment is over.
For the season of containment is over.
For the season of containment is over.
For what is that, that rests in your hand?
For this is no ordinary cup, it is a bottomless cup.
And I see the puzzled look upon your face and your question “what is the point of a cup that has no base?”
For I can no longer contain myself.
For you think of a measure, the cup as the means to contain that which can then be moved from here to there without spilling.
You assume that I want keep that which is between here and there dry.
And yet what is it I have shown you?
The cup that is unable to contain that which flows into it. For all that you pour into it flows immediately out of it, splashing like hose all over my feet.
I see you want to contain the flow I have given you. A measure here, to be transported there. Your expectation is limited. Your expectations are measured.
Yet you are my instrument of the flow.
I am not limited.
I am without limit.
My supply is not limited.
I see you looking for the reservoir when I have given you my flow.
For you shall craft my flow, direct my flow.
What you think is a cup is really a funnel.
Streams in the desert.
Streams in the desert.
Streams in the desert.
If you want to preserve and reserve, all you shall receive is containment.
But I am reckless in my flow.
For my intent is make the desert a lush green pasture. Abundance here and abundance there.
Here and there, more and more, here and there, more and more.
Between here and there, more and more.
For there is no limit to my supply.
Unlimited.
Be without limit.
Act like you have no limit.
For you are my instrument of overflow.
For you see it now.
Your purpose is simply to direct my flow.
To pour out all that I have given you.
Yet I hear you ask “what is the difference between the overflowing cup and the bottomless cup?”
For you think that once the overflow stops you can drink from what remains.
Yet the bottomless cup brings radical change to the whole land.
One is left with containment.
The other brings transformation.
One brings satisfaction to the one.
The other brings transformation to the many.
“Not a reservoir but a river”
“Not pour out a blessing to us, but bring a blessing to many”
For one is limited.
The other is unlimited.
One is bounded, the other is without boundary.
One flows over the edge, the other establishes a whole new territory.
One demonstrates the overflow for the one.
The other brings overflow and breaks the limits of the many.
For it pours from your pores when you pause.
Release your flow Lord.
Isaiah 35:6
Then shall the lame man leap like a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall sing for joy. For waters shall break forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert.
