Behold

Behold

For it is I that holds your hand.

Psalms 73:23-26 Nevertheless I am continually with You; You do hold my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to honor and glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And I have no delight or desire on earth besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.

To have and to hold.

For there is so much to have in the place of the holding.

Is this not the start of something new.

First the anticipation.

Second the excitement.

Third the nervous tension.

Fourth the touching.

Fifth the holding.

Sixth the having.

Seven the intimacy of connection.

Eight the rising of delight.

Nine the habitation of delight.

When you feel like you have lost your grip, it is I that holds your hand.

For I am with you.

Let’s go steady.

No need to push or pull, no need to pick up the pace or slow it down.

Let’s go for a quiet stroll.

Let’s just take our time.

No need to rush.

No need to concern yourself with the destination.

No need to concern yourself with the future.

For my delight holds your hand.

How does it feel to hold her hand?

The first thing, the first encounter, the first touch, the feeling of great delight, the place of great calm.

For this is the place of the holding.

For my love holds your hand.

Safe and secure.

Be at peace.

For this is the place of the holding.

The interlocking, the grasping, the point of great connection, the symbol of togetherness, the place of great unity, the cadence of peace.

Yet I was so unprepared for all this. I had no idea what to expect. The place of unexpected blessing. The place of the holding. The life changing moment. Unlike anything before. Beyond explanation. The strength of her love. The power of her presence. The warmth of her being. I feel it so intensely even now.

For my love holds your hand.

Repeat after me “I am with you.”

Whatever the future holds I will love and stand by you as long as we both shall live.

Whatever, no matter, it matters not where you are going, only who you are with.

Be still and know, that I am the Lord.

In the place of the stillness, I am still here.

In the place of chaos, I am here.

In the place of the slip, it is I that holds your hand.

I have a firm grip on you and am not letting go.

For my delight is in you, by presence stands with you, alongside you.

Fear not the next step, fear not the ground upon which you walk, care not for your destination, just hold on, for my love has hold of you.

Psalms 40:1-3 To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I WAITED patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
