Before

What is before you?

I flow before you.

The torrent at your feet, flowing through your hands.

The stream flows at your feet.

Shallow streams, showing the path of your stand.

You look down so as to maintain your balance, to stand in the place of withdrawal.

Yet look up.

The overflow is before you.

The billowing rolls. The swirling flow. The bundle of the flow. Grows before you.

Expands before you. Rises before you.

In the dry place, in the desolate place, my fullness is before you.

It rolls up before, waiting to be unfurled.

Then what is before that which is before.

The ground opens before. A mighty gap. A huge crevice, a giant crack.

A ground breaking moment.

A huge capacity, a great place for my fullness.

No longer empty, but you shall have my fullness.

Look out for the flow.

For the valleys shall be filled with the ocean of my fullness.

Jeremiah 33:9-12 And Jerusalem shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth that hear of all the good I do for it, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace, prosperity, security, and stability I provide for it. Thus says the Lord: Yet again there shall be heard in this place of which you say, It is a desolate waste, without man and without beast—even in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast— There shall be heard again the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voices of those who sing as they bring sacrifices of thanksgiving into the house of the Lord, Give praise and thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good; for His mercy and kindness and steadfast love endure forever! For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed and return to be as it was at first, says the Lord. Thus says the Lord of hosts: In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be dwellings and pastures of shepherds resting their flocks.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
