Awash

And it washes over.

“You are washing me over”

And it washes over.

And in comes upon the waves of the sea.

And it rolls in like thunder.

And it falls upon the shore.

And despite the weight of it.

And despite the weight of it.

And despite the weight of it.

And despite the weight of it.

For there was no reason for it to come.

Beyond the natural course of events.

Carried by the strength of the flow.

Pushed by my arm from the great depths of the sea.

And you see it amidst the giant wave as it crashes upon the shore.

“Get knotted” you hear my words echoing across the sound of the crashing waves.

And what is it you see?

The giant knots of a great and mighty net about the size of the crashing wave.

Come and have a closer look.

Come and unpack all that I have bought you.

For it shall come to you.

The treasure of a mighty man’s household landing at your feet.

Like it came from a shipwreck but it arrives before you now.

And as you unpack it what is it you discover?

Household furniture, chests of drawers, buffets, chairs, treasure chests. And they come to me intact. A little battered by the storm but intact. A little worse for wear but intact. And so many treasures caught in the net. And for a moment as I untangled the items from the net I considered throwing out the furniture. But you caught my attention with a glimmer of gold. A flash of gold. And then it fell before my feet.

For the treasures of man shall fall at your feet.

And the draws shall overflow with blessing.

Blessings hidden from those who once owned them.

For what was discarded by the owner shall become the greatest treasure.

For the tarnished thing, the tattered thing, the thing that so many would have discarded, contains that which now shall have the highest value.

For it comes to you in a discarded container.

For the one who owned it said to himself “I have no need of this.”

And yet it did not fall from that which contained it, until it arrived at your feet.

And the treasure is now of an age. And once it possessed limited value, but now at this time and for this time, it possesses the highest worth.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
