Ahead of it.

How is it you regard your enemy?

For he laughs at you, he taunts you, he shouts at you, he makes faces at you.

Yet I will wipe the smile from his face in an instant.

In a moment in an instant. The bright smile, of victory, of dominance is stilled.

For the stone has been flung, the aim is true.

For you looked him in the eye, and then he died.

Embedded in his skull. Torn asunder. Broken asunder. Impotent. Unable to stand. For he made a stand and then in an instant, unable to stand, he fell on his face.

For he thought, he stated his intent, he gave it his best shot. Yet his thoughts were not my thoughts.

He did not ask me what I thought about it.

Yet I told him what was about to happen.

He stated his claim, he made a proclamation, there was no doubting his intent.

Yet I had a different view. For despite what had been declared, despite the warning, he never saw it coming. He knew of the sticks and stones and yet he could not see the power of these combined.

For the way he looked at you, with scorn and derision, is the way he will look to those that stood with him.

1 Samuel 17:41-43 The Philistine came on and drew near to David, the man who bore the shield going before him. And when the Philistine looked around and saw David, he scorned and despised him, for he was but an adolescent, with a healthy reddish color and a fair face. And the Philistine said to David, Am I a dog, that you should come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

For he was head and shoulders above his peers and yet was not someone to look up to. For many would be too afraid to look him in the eye, to stand against him, to stand up to him.

Yet you were not afraid to look him in the eye.

In a moment you put him on a different pedestal. For he staked his claim against me, then I put his head upon a stake. I paraded him before all those that were fearful of him.

He thought his plans had legs, then in a moment he had nothing to rest his head upon, to stand upon, except his own sword.

For there will be a separation, that which was designed to be together, shall be separated. For I have set you apart from your peers. I shall elevate your head high above theirs.

For I am well ahead of him. The highest place obtained by him was much lower than my position.

He looked down on all around him, yet I came down for all those around me. For I came down from on high to bring up those laid low.

He made a claim for the territory that was mine. Yet he had no right, he was out of order, he was against my order.

He constructed many plans, he bound up many, he had captured much. Yet in a moment, in an instant this plans were about to unravel.

He had bound up many, yet in a moment he found himself in a bind.

Yet I have placed in your hand the thread that holds it all together.

He thinks he has it all together, yet in a moment it shall unravel by your hand.

For it takes great strength to bind and to capture so much. Yet it requires only wisdom to bring release.

Yet I have directed your eyes to see that which is the point of weakness. Amidst all the boundaries, all the restraints, all the binding, I have given you the key to freedom, the means to bring release.

Isaiah 61:6-7 But you shall be called the priests of the Lord; people will speak of you as the ministers of our God. You shall eat the wealth of the nations, and the glory once that of your captors shall be yours. Instead of your former shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach your people shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double what they had forfeited; everlasting joy shall be theirs.

For I have separated this territory from the rest. Plucked from that which surrounds it. For the boundaries, the borders, the man made limits have no bearing upon my plans.

My place for you is elevated, rests on my pedestal, is my launching place for what is to come.

Let’s start with a wrung out sponge in the driest place, in the desert place.

Is this not what I have placed in your hand?

Let’s see what happens when you release your hand! For I have placed release in your hand.

For it pours, from your pores, when you pause.

For the outpouring has come. I am pouring out all that I have have placed within.

At first a trickle, then a stream, then a river, then a torrent, then a fountain. For I have placed you as my fountain in the driest place. For I burst forth with great celebration, for I have popped the cork, I have released that which has contained.

For you look down across the elevated land, waters falling all around, raining down over all the land.

For I have placed great abundance in your hand. This flow cannot be stopped, can never be wrung out, can never be limited by capacity.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
