A Great Calm

A Great Calm

In the stillness.

In the stillness.

What is it you hear?

The sound of the drop amidst the darkness all around.

For the drop falls from above to that which is beneath.

Drop after drop.

Drop upon drop.

I am layering drop upon drop.

I am building something great from that which has fallen.

In a moment it shall dawn upon you.

For the light shall break through into the darkness.

For I shall make my point.

Point after point.

My point rises from beneath and I point to my point from above.

Point after point.

A cathedral of my own making.

For all shall come to see all that was built in the dark, but now exposed to the light.

Here let me take you on a tour.

See how my point is elevated amidst the flow, it rises above the flow.

For my point is strong and clear.

For my point is not brittle or without standing.

For my point stands before you.

The stream flows all around. It permeates the ground all around. Where it falls my point will be made.

I want to show everyone the work of my hands in the cave.

Can you hear the sound?

Can you hear the melody?

Can you feel the resonance?

Which note resonates with you?

What point impacts you the most?

What note are you most attracted to?

A symphony of sound, and orchestra of movement, a movement, a sonata of sound.

The music of attraction. The point of harmony.

Yet the cave shall not be your dwelling place.

1 Kings 19:9 There he came to a cave and lodged in it; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, What are you doing here, Elijah?

For I shall make it plain.

For upon the plain I shall bring growth.

In the stillness, in the place of a great calm, in the place of the flow, in the place that refreshes, in the place of the still waters shall spring forth my growth.

Isaiah 32:20 Happy and fortunate are you who cast your seed upon all waters [when the river overflows its banks; for the seed will sink into the mud and when the waters subside, the plant will spring up; you will find it after many days and reap an abundant harvest], you who safely send forth the ox and the donkey [to range freely].

For the seed shall rise amidst a great calm.

Psalms 23:2-3 He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters. He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.

Growth shall be released.

Growth shall be unshackled.

For it rises before you.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
