Rest

And He makes me to lie down….

Psalms 23:2
He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.

I have brought you to this place.

How does it feel?

I want to move. I want to keep moving. And yet here I find myself at rest.

What is it you feel?

The movement of the wind, the gentle breeze upon my face.

What is it you see?

The movement caused by the wind.

What is it you hear?

The rustling of the leaves.

So in the place of stillness you see the movement.

You want to keep moving, but in the place of your rest, I am moving.

In the quietness, in the stillness I am here.

For I want you to be in the place of stillness, despite the movement all around.

Just relax.

Be unwound.

Be unwrapped.

Be loosed.

Be free, feel free, feel my freedom, my freedom to just be.

That’s it just breathe.

Just let the tension go.

Feel the release.

Be exhausted.

Let go of all the waste, the toxins, the expended gases, the dark things, the explosive things, the moments of great drama, the trauma of what was.

Just get it out of your system.

Just blow out all the smoke.

Make a loud noise. Wake the neighbours.

Be refuelled. Stop and fill up.

Just lie down.

That’s it.

Take a breath.

Be at rest.

Receive my rest.

Be refreshed.

Take a load off.

Release your grip.

Just feel the release.

Be unwound.

Be unwounded.

Be without wounds.

Here let me attend to you.

For I have made you to lie down.

Out in the open.

In the insecure place.

In the uncomfortable place.

In the unnatural place.

In a new place.

In a green place.

In a soft place.

In a place without borders.

In a place without walls or a roof.

In the wide open space.

In the unbounded place.

In the place of freshness.

In the place of growth.

In the place of fertility.

In the place that produces.

In the place of abundance.

In the place of fullness.

In the place of openness.

In the place of care.

For you must rely on me as the caretaker.

The one who guards your habitation.

For this is my place.

This is my territory.

For this is the time of restoration.

This is the place of restoration.

This is the means of restoration.

Be still and know that I am God.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
