Pace

Pitter patter.

Unexpected pace, multiplied steps.

You look to pick up the pace, your steps just more of them, an uneven gait, small steps then giant leaps. But I am adding steps, like a rain drop, few at first, but then more and more drops, like footprints on the water. Filling gaps, more steps where you need them, they fall from above. You will wonder how they got there and how you got here.

You say “pick up the pace”, and I, it is I that have done this. I have collected your steps, and now I pour them out.

The rain falls, it is falling, across the land, in front, in behind, in places you cannot see, you cannot forecast. But I have forecast rain. At first patchy rain, but now early morning mist, light isolated showers, with widespread rain to come. It shall not be a cold front, it shall be a warm front.

Did you not see earlier this week, over and over the rain drop falling? Into the calm it falls. A tiny almost invisible thing, with little substance. But this one drop plunges deep into it surroundings, it has great impact, there is a ripple on the surface, but great impact underneath. But you saw it didn’t you? The small drop plunges deep, causing an uprising, an elevation of the surface, rising to meet that which impacted it. Then for an indefinite period, the drop rising above it all, propelled by its own momentum, pushed up by that which it touched, suspended above it all. It rests in an elevated position, rising above that which surrounds it, ruling over that which it touches.

You waited for it to fall, you expect it to come down, to be submerged, to merge, but there it sits suspended by me. You thought about this all week didn’t you? You pondered what it meant. For in my world, that small shall dominate the large, shall impact that which surrounds it, shall ripple across the land, shall rise above and be elevated beyond, and shall not come down, for it shall rule, shall be lifted up, shall reign, shall rain upon the land.

For you have experienced the last drop, now I want you to experience the first drop. What it means to be the drop that is first, the premier, the higher, the most impacting, the one that penetrates deep, the one that impacts wide.

You have been pouring out the last drop until that rain came. Well now it has come. This is my drop that I pour, this is my flow that I create, the rain falls upon the land of my choosing, at my instruction, where I command it. Mans feeble attempt to forecast, is futile, the only way to know where the rain is falling is to look up. The storm has past and now the mist falls across the land.

You have experienced the storm, before it has come. Your container experienced the flow of the drop, now you shall see the flow of many drops without the container, without containment. All will experience the storm, but it shall be nothing for you, for you rest upon the ripple, you shall be above it, for I have commanded it.

Drop, drop, multiplied drops, not one, but many, at first in sequence, but then concurrent. At first isolated, but then connected.

Deuteronomy 28:10-13 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

Elevated Purpose

I am a man of passion, of purpose, but fundamentally one who holds on to God with every fiber of my being. I learnt some years ago that it is one thing to say that I “trust” God,  or that I “have faith”, but it is a whole other level to obediently put that word, that faith into action.
